On a cold winter's day in August 1997, a couple of crates are hauled onto a hulking 747 at Mascot Airport, Sydney, Australia. Destination - Memphis Tennessee, the home of Elvis, The King. Tupelo 1, the giant "Elvis guitar" is about to undergo another stage of it's "incredible journey". Like the dogs and cat of the Paul Gallico story, Tupelo 1 is heading to America, to be with it's rightful owner, Elvis Aaron Presley. It's a miracle this is happening, but it seems that there's a magnet pulling the artwork across the ocean. The universal forces have conspired to get the thing to America despite lack of time, money and local support. Memphis is calling, the 3rd Annual Conference on Elvis Presley is calling. It's answer the call or forever wonder what might have been.
This is the story about how a piece of Australian art got from Sydney to Memphis, got to be autographed by Elvis's one time hairdresser and spiritual advisor, Larry Geller, got to be blessed with angels and scripture by the Reverend Howard Finster.
